How we score

The rubric behind each score

The rubric is deliberately rigid: six criteria, fixed weights, and the same questions asked at every property we cover.

25%Major impact

Casino floors and lounges

Assessed on floor plan clarity, lounge provision, game variety, air quality, and crowding at peak times.

20%High impact

Rooms and suites

Sound insulation, bedding, bathroom condition, storage, climate control, housekeeping consistency, and outlook.

20%High impact

Front-of-house service

Arrival efficiency, staff knowledge, multilingual capability, and how the property responds to a problem.

15%Moderate impact

Restaurants and bars

Range across price points, kitchen consistency, breakfast quality, in-room dining hours, and wine list depth.

10%Supporting impact

Position and transit

Judged on transfer convenience, walkable surroundings, transport connections, and parking practicality.

10%Supporting impact

Value

We compare the real total cost, not the advertised rate, against everything the stay includes.

How we work

How the reviews are produced

Astervina is an independent editorial publication covering resort hotels and entertainment destinations across Peru, Chile, and Colombia. We assess properties, publish scores, and explain the reasoning; we do not sell rooms, take commission on bookings, or accept payment for placement.

Independence is structural rather than declared. No property in this catalogue has paid to appear, none has been given sight of its review before publication, and none can have a criticism removed.

Reader questions

Frequently asked questions

How often are reviews updated?

Properties are reassessed when they renovate, change operator, or when reader reports suggest the published score no longer holds.

Can I suggest a correction?

Please write to [email protected] with the property name and the detail you believe is wrong. Corrections that check out are applied and dated.

Do you cover properties outside this region?

We publish on Peru, Chile, and Colombia exclusively in this edition, and only add a property once the full rubric has been applied to it.

How should I read the ratings?

Scores rank properties against each other within Peru, Chile, and Colombia. A lower number often signals a different purpose, not a worse stay.

Can I book through this site?

No. We are an editorial publication. Enquiry forms on this site are relayed to the property's own reservations desk, and any contract you enter is with the hotel, not with Astervina.

Is placement sponsored?

Placement is never for sale. Every score is produced by the same rubric, and no resort can influence a rating commercially.
